Accenture Labs seeks a well-rounded candidate with strong technical skills to join our applied research group in San Francisco as an R&D Summer Intern. We are looking for someone who is both deeply curious about the business impact of technology and eager to explore those possibilities hands-on. The Digital Experiences R&D Group within Accenture Labs works to advance the frontiers of human-machine interaction and human-centered computing to transform the ways people interact with smart tools, products, services –and each other…to reshape how we all work, live, create, and learn.
Our applied research explores ways that emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Ubiquitous Computing, and Bio-sensing can address important business problems and transform how people interact with technology across various facets of their lives. We divide our time across contributing directly to current client work, and to R&D to support future client offerings.
Our group gives graduate students the opportunity to work with experts and senior researchers across this range of emerging technologies, helping to translate the latest tech into tools to help our clients reinvent what they do and how they do it.
Key Responsibilities

Create rapid prototypes to illustrate Labs’ business hypotheses about the potential of emerging tech to transform various activities and realms of experience: support design through development and testing.

Support more experienced researchers to define research projects, plan, execute, and communicate those initiatives.

Support development of internal and external thought leadership, targeted for various audiences and in a variety of formats (blogs, white papers, videos, research conferences, etc.).

Basic Qualifications
-
Currently enrolled in PhD or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Human Computer Interactions or related fields with a graduation of December 2026 or later.

1+ years of experience in an area relevant to Accenture Innovation Technology research foci including, but not limited to, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cognitive Science, Human-AI Interaction, AI Engineering.

1+ years of experience creating rapid prototypes that apply and test new ideas related to the interaction of emerging technologies and people’s experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Familiarity with building applications with hardware such as biosensing wearables, robotic systems, AR/XR devices, eye-tracking and the like.

Proficiency in software development principles and common programming languages (such as Python, JavaScript), deep learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow or PyTorch) and experience in system programming (e.g., ROS2, Shell scripting, etc.).

Understanding LLM and VLM architectures, prompt engineering techniques, and LLM multimodal data processing.

Experience with user-centered design practices and user experience research methodologies such as usability testing, interviews, focus groups, etc.
This year’s internship will be a 12-week program. Participation in the Technology Innovation internship program requires that you are physically located in the United States for the duration of the internship.
