Computer Science Intern
Description
The Detectors Engineering group at Varex Imaging produces high quality innovative X-Ray imaging detectors for the medical, industrial, security and other industries. We are looking for a summer intern to help our FPGA team extend a large set of automated simulation and hardware script verification tests into a flexible regression test suite.
Work will involve setting up PCs for testing, interfacing with detectors, writing Python test scripts, debugging Python test scripts, analyzing and debugging Verilog simulations. In addition, we are seeking to add image quality testing capability to our test suite. That will involve adding the ability to introduce known test images into the detectors and then verify the output images from the detectors match the expected images. A senior engineer will be available to train and mentor this individual.
What you will do:
You will work closely with an FPGA team mentor and collaborate with the FPGA team in general.
-
Learn X-Ray safety procedures
-
Set up Linux and Windows PCs
-
Interface with detectors over 10Ge or CoaXPress
-
Run+Debug existing Python scripted tests / develop new scripted tests
-
Develop software interfaces to new hardware as needed
-
Run/Debug/Write SystemVerilog automated testbenches
-
Automate testing and reporting with the build server
-
Document the test system developed
-
Report weekly to the FPGA team on progress
What you will bring:
-
Demonstrated use of scientific method – this is key !
-
Experience running experiments, taking good data, and analyzing the data.
-
Some statistics experience for refining experimental data.
-
Basic understanding of computer hardware, connecting cables, etc....
-
Experience with scripting, preferably Python and Bash
