Architect Engineer Intern - Motion Planning
Description
We are seeking a passionate and driven intern to join our Planning team for the summer. You will contribute to enhancing the efficiency and scalability of our autonomous vehicle planning system. This role offers hands-on exposure to system architecture, motion planning algorithms, and build optimization in a high-performance production codebase.
Responsibilities

Work on reducing planning latency through further modularization and system-level architectural improvements.

Analyze execution bottlenecks and help refine data dependencies and message structures.

Profile and improve the performance of path and speed planning algorithms.

Propose and implement algorithmic changes that reduce runtime without compromising planning quality.

Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, analyze data to identify potential issues.
Qualifications

PhD, Master’s students or senior undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.

Strong C++ development skills with experience in performance-critical applications.

Familiarity with motion planning, robotics, or autonomous systems is a plus.

Experience with Bazel or other large-scale build systems is a bonus.

Self-driven and excited to dive into a large production codebase.

Solid problem-solving and debugging abilities.

Have experience of real-time system, especially latency handling

Familiarity with protobuf, ROS, or middleware architectures.
